Brass and Copper Products Care (Unlacquered)
Over time, products made from brass and copper (unlacquered) develop a characteristic green patina. It's important to remember that brass and copper do not tolerate acidic environments, so citric acid and harsh cleaning agents can damage them.
To keep metal handles in good condition, avoid deep mechanical damage.
You can remove the patina with special cleaning agents for colored metals, such as PUTS.
PUTS is a gentle, natural cleaning agent designed for universal use. It is suitable for cleaning various surfaces such as polished and brushed brass, copper, chrome, and stainless steel. It can also handle other materials, but it is recommended to test it in an inconspicuous area first.
How to Use PUTS:
- To protect your hands and nails, wear gloves. Also, protect adjacent surfaces (e.g., countertop) to avoid stains.
- Remove dirt from the product surface, e.g., by wiping it dry initially.
- Shake the bottle well and apply a few drops to a damp sponge or cloth.
- Wipe the product in circular motions.
- Rinse the sponge or cloth thoroughly with water.
- Wipe the item again to thoroughly remove the cleaner.
- Dry the surface completely.
Use a soft cloth. Avoid rough sponges or very "fluffy" materials.
If you want the appearance of brass or copper products to remain unchanged, we recommend choosing lacquered models.
