I wanted warmth without gloss, so walnut fronts paired with brushed nickel pulls felt like an easy yes. The texture catches light softly, which keeps fingerprints at bay and makes the line read as one continuous ribbon along the run. I mocked up two sizes on tape and realised the longer option brings the verticals into balance without stealing attention from the grain.

On tall doors the hand naturally lands in the middle, so a slightly larger spacing felt more honest; drawers stayed shorter to keep proportions tight. Repeating the same finish on a few small accessories quietly ties things together, and I didn’t chase an exact colour match — temperature harmony was enough. Over time the brushed surface has proven more forgiving than a mirror polish, especially under evening light.

The room now looks considered rather than decorated; it’s the rhythm and hand comfort doing the heavy lifting, not the metal name. Small change, big difference in how the space behaves day to day. I’d do the same combo again without hesitation.
